Chittorgarh, is one of the southern districts in Rajasthan. Chittorgarh shares its borders with Madhya Pradesh. The district shares its borders with Neemuch, Mandsaur and Ratlam districts of Madhya Pradesh and Bariswara, Udaipur, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Bundi and Kota districts of Rajasthan. The total area of the district is 10, 856 sq. kms. The city of Chittorgarh is the headquarters of the district.

History of Chittorgarh can be traced back to the 7th century AD. It is believed that the fort in Chittorgarh was constructed during the period of Maurya dynasty. The fort was invaded by Allauddin Khilji in the year 1303. It was again attacked in 1535 by Sultan Bahadur Shah of Gujarat and by Moghul Emperor Akbar in 1567.

Chittorgarh is famous for its forts and antique constructions which are more than just tourist attractions, but they offer a glimpse into the glorious past of the place.

• Nagri: Nagri is an important town in Chittorgarh where excavations have unearthed artifacts belonging to the Maurya period.
• Barolo: The town is famous for the ancient temples surrounding the place.
• Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary: This sanctuary is home to animals such as panther, wild boar, antelopes and mongoose. Migratory birds also visit this place during the winters.
• Sitamata Sanctuary: The sanctuary is situated in the Aravali and Vindhaychal ranges and it is home to animals such as leopard, hyena, jackal, fox, jungle cat, porcupine, spotted dear, wild bear, four horned antelope, nilgai and flying squirrel.
