Garib Rath Trains
Introduced in 2005, the Garib Rath Express train or the ‘Chariot for the Poor’ is a premier rail service that provides facilities of speed and comfort of air-conditioning at a price affordable to the common man. Garib Rath trains have been well accepted by the common man and run to capacity even in off-season.
Comparison
The maximum speed of the Garib Rath trains is the same as the speed of Rajdhani Express and more than the speed of Superfast Express trains. The only difference in the passenger amenities of Garib Rath and Rajdhani Express trains is that bedding is provided against a charge because the cost of bedding is not included in the ticket. Just as food and refreshments have to be bought and not provided free of charge. Passengers may carry their own bedding requirements and their food so as not to buy these at all. However there are other amenities Garib rath trains are lined up to have such as fridge, microwave, toaster, tv etc. Some of the trains have continuous electronic display that shows distance remaining, next station and expected time to reach there. The coaches are also well decorated with paintings of Indian Heritage.
Commercially important routes have got better connectivity with the introduction of Garib Rath trains as they are faster with fewer stops.
