Introduction
Uttar Pradesh, one of the states in India had formed a Political Party known as Samajwadi Party that was formed on October 4, 1992. The party generally represents itself as a party working for the group of people known as the Backward class. The party pronounces itself as a democratic socialist party. They have declared themselves an operational party for the backward classes.
Earlier this party was one of the portion of the Janta Dal also known as People’s League or also called as the one of the India’s primary opposition party before BharatiyaJanta Party or abbreviated as BJP. JantaDal party was split into various regional parties. Mulayam Singh Yadav, who had been a wrestler, former defense minister and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, now leads the Samajwadi Party.
History
The Samajwadi party originated under the headship of ShriMulayam Singh Yadav and was formed on October 4, 1992 in Lucknow. They symbolized themselves by selecting the symbol of their party as “Bicycle”. The symbol was selected as to give the image of the working of the party that the main aim of the party is to work for the common people. Theparty has always been motivated to work for the general people.
For the last two decades Uttar Pradesh got the privilege to be led by Samajwadi Party two times under the leadership of ShriMulayam Singh Yadav, who has been Chief Minister prior the party was formed. The party has always been working on the progress and opulence of the state of Uttar Pradesh. ShriMulayam Singh Yadav has governed the state of Uttar Pradesh twice in the year 1993 and again came into rule in the year 2003. The party has been the third largest party in the 15thLokSabha. Its position in the LokSabha declares that this party has been really working for the common people.
The motive of the party has been to work for the communal rights and exhilarate the part of the society who has been living an oppressed living. The partywants that the state should lead a congruent life. So the party wants to provide a fecund ground for such an upliftment. Since the party is for the masses so it always encourages the people from different phases of life to be its members so thatdifferent views from the people of different section of society help in the smooth functioning of the party. The Samajwadi party loyally works as per said in the constitution of India that says about the communal congruence and secularism.
The main idolism for the party is to work towards socialism, democracy and equality in the state. Samajwadi Party has confidence to bring the harmony for the common people and accomplishes in getting the further prospects for the downtrodden section of the society. They have also been always encouraging in upliftment of the Muslims and the women in the society.

“Bicycle” a symbol that represents the common man has been adopted as the symbol for the party that was formed on 4th October, 1992 in Lucknow led with the hands on ShriMulayam Singh Yadav and was name Samajwadi Party.
KrantiRathYatra& Cycle Rally
The president of the Samajwadi party AkhileshYadav started a cycle march from Noida to Agra to gripe against the illegal acquirement of land by Mayawati government. The yatra or march was spread over three days which included first day march from Noida to Jewar and the second day march from Tappal to Mathura. Akhilesh’s visit ensured the farmers that the land that belonged to them can never be procured illegally without their consensus. He ensured that the land has always been of the farmers. He was accompanied by huge number of youth who pedaled along with him from Noida to Agra. The cycle and the KrantiRathyatras set the drive for the forthcoming elections.
The SamajwadiKrantiRathYatra was initiated on September 12th, 2011 from Lucknow. This was planned keeping in frame the forthcoming election of 2012. The yatra was planned in two phases first from Lucknow to Kanpur and then from Bundelkhand.
All the hardwork by the SamajwadiParty workers was well paid in the April 2012 elections. The corruption that was seen during the then ruling BJP or BahujanSamaj Party was the major reason of the winning factor for Samajwadi party.
Famous Ministers of the Party
Mulayam Singh Yadav
ShriMulayam Singh Yadav, a wrestler and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and leader of Samajwadi Party was born on 22nd November 1939. ShriMulayam Singh Yadav lead the state of Uttar Pradesh as the Chief Minister three times from 1989 to 1991 then 1993 to 1995 and then from 2003-2007. He has also been the Defence Minister from 1996 to 1998 in the United Front government. He was alleged of spreading corruption during his chief minister tenure. There are several cases of corruption against him that are still under the Supreme Court of India. He has always been carped for being a caste biased leader.
Akhilesh Yadav
The youngest person to be the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh since March 2012 was born on 1st July 1973. He entered LokSabha first time in 2000 from Kannauj and has been on this seat in 2004 and 2009 general elections.
He has been credited for making a rise from 97 VidhanSabha seat to 224 seats and has now been selected as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. At just the age of 38 he is the youngest Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. ShriMulayam Singh Yadav expressed his dissatisfaction towards the work of his son as Chief Minister for four months which he openly declared in the party meeting on 31st July 2012.
