Introduction
Nationalist Congress Party or NCP is a party in India belonging to the left centre to centre and works out of Maharashtra, India. Nationalist Youth Congress is the youth wing of this party.
History
The Nationalist Congress Party came into force in 1999, on 25th May, under the national leaders, P.A. Sangma, Sharad Pawar and Tariq Anwar, when they were driven out of the Indian National Congress in 20th May 1999, because of their open reluctance to accept Sonia Gandhi as the leader of the party, on grounds of her being of Italian origin. During the formation of NCP, it also brought within its fold the Indian Congress (socialist) party, which had been formed as anti coalition party in the Maharashtra state, along with INC. P.A. Sangma left the party in 2012, 20th June in hopes of being elected as president of India as contestant.
NCP in Various States
In various states, NCP has gone into alliance with other parties, with the centre having it in partnership with Congress to form the United Progressive Alliance. In Kerala, there is alliance of NCP with Left Democratic Front, which is having Communist Party of India (Marxist) as the head and finally in Nagaland, it is partnered with Bharatiya Janata Party.
Some members of the NCP are present in the legislative assemblies in certain states.

Famous Ministers of the Party
Praful Patel
Praful Manoharbhai Patel, is presently a Lok Sabha Member of Parliament in India, and was born in February 17th, 1957 in Kolkata. He was elected from the Bhandara Gondia constituency of parliamentary elections and is an active member belonging to Nationalist Congress Party. In the UPA, he is heading the cabinet ministry for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, while till January 2011 from May 2004, he worked in the capacity of Minister of State for Civil Aviation. He has had associations with corruption cases and investigations in many place outside as well as inside India.
Ajit Pawar
Ajit Anantrao Pawar was born in Maharashtra in 1959, on July 22nd, well known as dada or big brother, who is presently in the post of deputy chief minister of Maharashtra. Ajit Pawar is Sharad Pawar’s nephew, who is presently the head of Nationalist Congress Party and the agriculture department Union Cabinet Minister. Ajit Pawar’s father, Anantrao Pawar, was the brother of Sharad Pawar, elder to him. Anantrao was working in the Rajkamal Studio belonging to V Shantaram, while Ajit Pawar’s paternal grandfather, who was Govindrao Pawar was working in the cooperative of farmers at Baramati, while grandmother looked after the farm present at Katewadi, which is about 10 kms away from their home town of baramati.
Ganesh Naik
Ganesh Naik is another politician of India, belonging to the Nationalist Congress Party, born in 1950 on 15th September, coming from the Belapur constituency of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and is designated Thane Guardian Minister in the government structure of the state. He is also a minister in the state cabinet handling labour, excise and environment.
Jayant Patil
Jayant Patil, born in the year 1963, is from Maharashtra state is a national figure in Indian politics. He currently is a member of the cabinet as minister of Rural Development in Maharashtra. His educational qualification is BE in Civil Engineering from the Mumbai college of VJTI. His father, Rajarambapu Patil, was a prominent figure of Maharashtra politics, after whose death in 1984, Jayant Patil took to public life. In 1999, when he became the minister for Finance and Planning in Maharashtra, he became the youngest finance minister ever of the state. He remained finance minister for 9 long years and was responsible for tabling the budget for 9 times, which is a record. Then onwards he was transferred to the portfolio of home ministry, after the previous minister of home affairs resigned. Jayant Patil took steps to form the anti terrorism team for quick response, the Force One in Maharashtra. He also handled the department of rural development from 2009. From the previously known Walwa or presently known Islampur constituency in Sangli, jayant Patil had won the assembly elections for 5 times. His wife is Shailaja Patil and has two sons whose names are Prateek and Rajvardhan.
