Introduction
Janata Dal (Secular) also known as [JD(S)] is Indian political centre-left party headed by previous Prime Minister Mr. HD Deve-Gowda. This political party identified as party of state in the Kerala and Karnataka. It was created in the month of July in 1999 by split of the Janata-Dal party. This party has political presence chiefly in Karnataka but in Kerala, Janata Dal (Secular) is division of Left Democratic-Front.
Janata Dal (Secular) is the 3rd largest in state legislature of Karnataka and for one time ruled in coalition having Indian-National-Congress party as first alliance government of Karnataka. There was lots of disagreement over JD(S) which allying with INC or “Indian National Congress” in Bangalore since INC previously had absolute majority plus was reduced to 2nd place having the BJP with a plurality. But, the Janata Dal (Secular) measured INC being the smaller of 2 evils on a/c of the previous secular along with centre-left credentials.
History
The Janata Dal (Secular) traces the roots reverse to Janata Party that is better organized by Mr. Jayprakash Narayan joint the entire anti Indira-Gandhi parties into one banner just for 1977 nationwide elections. The Janata Party divide twice, earliest in year 1979 and after then in year 1980 heading to birth of “Bharatiya Janata Party” (BJP) that comprised the members of previous Jan Sangh that was very near to “Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh”.
Janata Dal was created in city of Bangalore by merger of Janata Party having smaller antagonism parties in year 1988. In the month of May in 1996, Mr. HD Deve Gowda who is now the leader of Janata Dal (Secular), turned into Indian Prime Minister as part of coailition called the United Front government.
Janata Dal divided in year 1999 at what time some of its leaders left for collaboration with BJP-headed “National Democratic Alliance” and form Janata Dal United party. That was headed by Mr. George Fernandes whilst Deve Gowda came out as leader of Janata Dal (Secular). Even though basis for split was the opposition of party for allying with “National Democratic Alliance”, Deve-Gowda stayed similarly away from INC (Indian National Congress) from outset. H D Deve Gowda
Haradanahalli Doddegowda Deve-Gowda was born on 18 May, 1933. He was 11th Indian Prime Minister from 1996 to 1997 and 14th Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1994 to 1996. He is a powerful leader of Vokkaliga community as well as popularly recognized as Mannina maga that means the “Son of soil” for adopting cause of farmers. He is National President of Janata Dal (Secular) party.
Deve-Gowda joined INC or “Indian National Congress” party in year 1953 along with remain the member of that party till year 1962. Throughout that time, he was President of “Anjaneya Cooperative-Society” of Holenarasipura. Later he became Member of Taluk-Development Board of Holenarasipura taluk in Hassan.
In year 1962, Deve-Gowda was selected to Legislative Assembly of Karnataka from the Holenarasipura constituency like independent candidate. Afterward, He was selected from same electorate to Legislative Assembly of Karnataka for 6 successive terms from 1962-1989. He joined Congress (O) while Congress divided plus served as opposition Leader in Assembly from the month of March in 1972 to 1976 and once again from November 1976-December 1977. During Emergency in 1975 to 77, he was jailed in Central Jail of Bangalore.
Deve-Gowda was two times President of Janata Party’s state unit. He governed as minister in Government of Janata Party in Karnataka led by Mr. Ramakrishna-Hegde from year 1983 to year 1988. He turned out President of Janata Dal’s state unit in year 1994 and was driving force after the conquest of party in 1994 elections of State Assembly. He was voted from Ramanagara constituency confirmed in and as 19th Chief Minister in Karnataka in Dec, 1994.
In January, 1995, HD Deve-Gowda traveled around Switzerland moreover attended International Economists Forum. His tour of Singapore that resulted much required foreign investment for Karnataka, proved the business acumen of him.
In 1996’s general elections, Congress led by Mr. PV Narasimha Rao mislaid decisively however not any other party succeeded sufficient seats to make government there. When United Front determined to form Government at Centre with support of Congress, Deve-gowda was unpredictably chosen to lead government and turned into 11th Indian Prime Minister. He became Prime Minister on 1st of June in year 1996 and after that continued till 11th of April, 1997. H. D. Kumaraswamy

He is among the sons of the former Indian Prime Minister Mr. H D Deve Gowda. He was popularly known all over the nation as "KumarAnna" where Kumar, name as wwell as "anna" in the Kannada means the "elder brother" amongst his followers and friends. He was a renowned film producer along with distributor plus exhibitor in Kannada film and motion industry. He is the president of Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) of Karnataka state.
