It is daily newspaper written in the language of Urdu, which is propagated in the state of Punjab. India. This paper was considered among the three major newspapers, which were launched by the Punjab Kesari Group in the year of 1948. Being combined these three major newspapers have led to the combined propagation of nearly 9.75 lakhs of copies on weekdays and nearly 10.5 lakhs copies on weekends. Its head office is situated in Civil Lines, which lies in the city of Jalandhar, a major city lying in the state of Punjab. This newspaper is printed from flourishing cities of Jammu, Ambala and Jalandhar.
Jagat Narain, who resisted the act of terrorism, was later killed by ferocious terrorists in the year of 1981. He was a great patriot and misanthropist. He spared no pains in fighting with the terrorists. But, his destiny had something different in store for him. His noted and able son, Ramesh Chander, who became a famous editor of this paper constituted a Shaheed Parivar Fund, which was chiefly known as Martyr Family Fund for sufferers of unbearable terrorism in the year of 1983, though after a year he himself was murdered by the ferocious terrorists. Consequently, this newspaper lost nearly 62 senior-sub editors, sub-editors, hawkers and agents to the terrorists. Nowadays, the Shaheed Parivar Fund stays firm and strong for disbursing funds to the victims of terrorist all over the country India.
In the year of August 2009, the famous editor-in-chief, Vijay Kumar Chopra of the Hind Samachar group, was chosen by the chairman of the Press Trust of India.
