Introduction to Nagaland:

Nagaland is a mountainous state situated in the tremendous north eastern area of India with its capital at Kohima. The state shares familiar limits with Myanmar, states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. This state mostly contains mountains except those areas which fall on the borders of Assam state. The largest peak in the state of Nagaland is Mount Saramati which a goes to a height of 3,840 meters’ and its surroundings are natural guards in midst Nagaland and Myanmar. About 90% of the state’s inhabitants are Christian and there are a lot of churches in and around the state. History of Nagaland:

Nagaland is a combination of rich diverse cultural groups, religions, climate, languages and, landscapes. The place is dwelling to more than 16 kinds of tribes with separate and attractive cultures. A lot of the inhabitants live in little, remote villages and perform their individual rituals and customs which have been there for ages.

The people of Nagaland, are said to be a part of indo-mongoloid hoard, a clan whose incidence was initially prominent ten centuries previous to Christ, at the time of the collection of the Vedas. Such persons are chiefly Christians and effortless in English.

Music and dance are indispensable parts of Nagaland’s traditions. The majority of dances are done in clusters. The very creative dance of the region is the “Zeliang” dance. Bizarrely the male domination is seen in all the dances, other than Zeliang where the ladies connect with their male counterpart in dance. Almost all the dances are done by humming of different formulae and clapping of hands. The attractiveness of the dances are given by the multi-coloured dresses. The largely admired tribal songs are: Heliamleu or songs of dance Hereileu or war songs, Neuleu or illustrious songs Hekialeu or songs about oneself.

Naga foods are fabulous and are prepared with tasteful ingredients. The flesh and fish that are mostly cooked on fire, dried or fermented. Naga foods are like a mysterious treasure not known to many.
