Patna Museum Patna
This museum is located in the state of Bihar. There are different variety of exhibits in this museum along with stone sculptures, bronzes, paintings, miniatures, terracottas, proto-historic objects, coins, thanka paintings, and various other art objects. There is preservation of Lord Buddha ashes along with its holy-relic casket and other materials linked with that at the time of his stupa excavation in the 6th century B.C. In year 1928, this Patna museum was manufactured in the style of Indo-Sarcenic in Vaishali having area of about 700 x 500 sq. ft. These collections were categorized into various other sections. Total number of sections in this museum were 11 in number. The exterior of this building is quite impressive and has a huge collection of stone sculptures of Gupta and Mauryan. Here one can shown the tiny casket of the ashes of Buddha that were brought from the Vaishali on the upstairs in a hall that is locked with the permits of Rs. 500.
History
This museum was built in the Rajput and Mughal architectural style and has collection of historical artefacts basically called as the Jadu Ghar. The manufacturing of this building was started in year 2009 when museum was renovated to make preserving of about 20, 000 objects collection in Patna.
Collections
This museum has display of variety of collections such like paintings, art objects, coins, thankas, instruments, terracotta images of Buddhist and Hindu artists, bronze images, and sculptures etc. This museum also contained collection linked with the Dr. RAjendra Prasad, first President of India and also daily life of the British period in this museum. There were also collections of cannon used in First World War.
In this museum also there is a fossil in a casket displayed of a tree that was about 200 million years older that was taken by A.S. Altekar famous archaeologist in year 1958 who also brought the ashes of Lord Buddha at Stupa relic in Vaishali. This museum also contained the statue of Didarganj Yakshi from the riverbank of Ganges in year 1917.
