Archaeological Museum Thrissur
This Archaeological Museum is located in the city of Thrissur in the state of Kerala. This museum of archaeology is situated in the Zoo Compound of Thrissur. This museum has huge collection of valuables like relics and murals from Kerala parts and situated at the city center in town hall road. This museum also displayed the past lived personalities of Kerala with their life spam, which is the main attraction. In this museum, displays of handicrafts, artifacts, temples of Kerala, and models of monuments were shown.
History
By the sponsorship of Cochin government, this museum of archaeology was inaugurated in the form of Sree Mulam Chithrasala in year 1938. In the city of Thrissur, this starting of gallery was made at town hall balcony. In year 1948, this gallery of archaeology was connected to the picture gallery. All the pictures collection in the museum is due to the efforts made in collecting the original copies of the mural paintings from the palace of Mattancherry and temples from the state of Cochin. The guides named as V.S. Unni Nair, N.O. Antony, and Sri T. R. Madhava makes their efforts in work of copy. V.R. Chithra of Madras school of arts guided giving supervision to Sri jatyanti Lal and T. Prakash of Bombay. At the town hall balcony in Thrissur, this gallery was inaugurated. In year 1948, this gallery was later on connected to the picture gallery to display the material and findings of Archaeology department of Cochin state. Later on this archaeology department bought a building at Chembukavu in year 1975. Later on in year 1975, this picture and archaeology gallery was moved to the latest building and named as Archaeological Museum of Thrissur.
Collections
Main wonderful collection of this museum is the written books of manuscripts on leaves of dry palm. To known about the Kerala’s heritage and culture, this museum is the worth place.
Exhibitions
This museum of archaeology is moved to the building manufactured by the Kollangode Raja and his daughter in year 1904. With the designing of western style, traditional, and blending, the construction of this building was held. There is huge collection of exhibits in the museum such as Urn burials from the sites of megalithic, Harappa material, material from Indus valley, black wares, coated wares, iron implements, beads, red wares, 10th and 17th century stone sculptures, temple models, paintings of murals, brone sculptures of 12th and 18th century, material from Cheraman Parambu, etc. Also there is display of Megalithic sites material of Kerala in this museum with huge collection. The materials excavated nearby the Kollangode from the village of Nenmeni were also displayed in the museum.

To reach this museum at Thrissur, various buses are available in the Kerala. This transport of bus service of Kerala is connected to the other states of the country also.
