Arakkal Museum Ayikkara
This museum of Arrakkal belongs to the royal family of Muslim in the Kerala state, South India. This museum of Arrakkal is basically a part of the Arakkalkettu Palace. The Kerala Government has converted the durbar hall into the museum. After the renovation of worth Rs. 9, 000, 000, in July 2005 this museum was opened.
The Arakkal Familly Trust owned this Arakkalkettu museum instead being renovated by the Government and also this museum does not came under the department of archaeology of India. As played a great role in the Malabar history, government of Kerala want this precious Arakkal family heritage to be preserved. To visit the museum, the trust of Arakkal Family charged a minimal fee for the visitors.
History
The history of Arakkal Rajas and their ruling were displayed in this museum of Arakkal. During the time of authority, there were Beevis called as female rulers. Government of India had renovated the old palace of Arakkal in the second century thought it did not came under the Archaeological survey, India.
Collections and Exhibition
In the durbur hall, there were exhibition of manuscripts, drawing and maps of surveys, and old records etc. all these records shows the links of the Arakkal family to the powers of European colonial those foot were put into the soil in the form of their activities, way of conducting the trade and their relations etc.
How to Reach
From the Kannur town at a distance of about 3 km, this palace is situated at the Ayikkara. This museum can easily be reachable through the bus service or taxi as is at 3 km far from Kunnar.
One has to moved to the airport of Mangalore or Calicut to reach the Kannur. This Ayikkara is about 3 kms from the town of Kannur and through the cabs one can visit this Ayikkara.
From the railway station of the Kannur, one can take the cabs or auto to visit the Museum. Through the Kannur junction, various trains moves on a daily basis to the other stations. Some special trains that passes from this Kannur junction are Chennai-Mangalore express, Chennai Mail, West Coast Express, Mangalore SF Special, Executive Express, and Nagarcoil Express etc.
Bus transport is another way to reach the museum. To reach this museum, interstate and intercity buses are available by private or government. For the night journey, air conditioned buses are also available so that visitor can visit the museum in the day time without wasting any time.

Open Hours: For museum opening time is 9.30 am to 5.30 . Timings on Tuesday and Sunday are 9.30 am to 5.30 pm.
