A Shiva Linga greets the visitor on the entrance of the gallery, which is a great representation of the God Shiva. Various statues of couples that are nude holding each other are standing there in the museum with their life size in this museum. The information matter like pattern of sperms and menstrual cycle chart are shown in this gallery.
This gallery is basically established to educate the young people and old peole about the sexuality, human body, and AIDS.
Mission
By the exhibits in detail and safe sex knowledge, the basic aim of the museum is to educate the public about the HIV/AIDS.
History
Due to the increased cases of AIDS, Municipal Corporation of Mumbai and Mumbai District Aids Control Society along with Dr. Prakash Sarang makes great efforts to establish this museum in year 2002 in Mumbai. To receive the better results for their mission, in year 2008 this museum decided to be move to the Goa according to Sarang. Later on in 2010, this museum is situated in the red light district of Mumbai that is Kamathiputra.
Collections
As compared to the museums in different parts in world, this museum is not very glamorous, which is the basic factor to enhance such cases in the common public. At the entrance of this museum, a representation of the Lord Shiva that is Lingam greets the visitors.Β In this museum, statues of Kama Sutra that is a popular Indian erotica, child birth, process of copulation and the details of sexually transmitted diseases are shown.
There posters regarding the use of condoms and about AIDS instruction on the display board of the museum. In this gallery, visitors positively get knowledge about enjoying the sex life and about sex. Only Hindi language is used for all these information. In the museum on display, various topics like safe sex props, images of sexually transmitted disease, and reproductive process etc are shown. To educate about the sexual intercourse, human orm and AIDS, there were sculptures formed that is 20 in number in this museum. To include the prostitutes and their clients for education, there were local group sex education were taught in this museum.
