Allahabad Museum Allahabad
This museum of Allahabad is considered to be the museum of national level in the India. This museum is located in the Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. This Allahabad Museum got its fund by the Ministry of Culture and inaugurated in year 1931 having huge collection of art objects that are unique in its own way.
History
In year 1931, this museum was built under the guidance of the municipality of the Allahabad having birds and animals collection. In year 1947, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru laid the museum foundation and later on by the year 1952 the construction of museum got completed. The Ministry of Culture take over the charge of this museum in year 1986 and then handed the charge of this museum to the Museum Society of Allahabad.
Collections
This sculptural gallery has largest collections all over the India that includes the Buddha statue from the Kanishka year of Kausambi, architectural remaining portions of the temple of Shiva of Gupta Age in Bhumara, Bharhut sculptures, sculpture in Gandhara style of Bodhisattva Maittreya, EkmukhiShivalinga from Khoh of period of Gupta along with the tremendous figures of Shiva temple Sursundaries at the Jamsot of Allahabad etc that are some of the valuables in this museum. From many archaeological sites of Bhita, Jhusi, and Kausambi, there were huge collections of terracottas in this museum.
In words of beauty and precision, there is largest collection of different type of metals, terracotta, beads along with semi-precious and precious stones and crystals. There were very rare collection of beads of birds and animals. This museum also contained the biggest collection of coins made of copper, silver, and gold from the period of history of Mughals, about 600 sealings and seals, and copper plate inscriptions along with the cast coins also. From the king of Mughal, there were major Firmans also. There is Persian and Sanskrit manuscripts collection also in this museum. Most recent largest achievement is Shahnama.
This museum also has proud ownership of SmritiVahan of Gandhi ji on which Gandhiji’s ashes were wrapped up in the Sangam dated on 12th February 1948. This Vahan is basically a Ford truck of 47 model V-8 that is still in its form and well maintained.
This museum also enclosed a gallery of Nehru that contained his biography along with its important letters and documents with manuscript that is original. There is a most common gallery that attracts the visitors is based on the manuscripts of the struggle of India for Independence in year 1857-1947 along with the photographs of the struggle period. There is revolutionary section also in this gallery. There is pride ownership of the Chandra Shekar Azad pistol in this museum that is showed in the entry hall of the museum on display. On the left drive way in the triangular park of this museum, the bronze bust of Chandra Shekhar Azad is kept. This gallery also has various sections of cultural and literary tradition of Allahabad.
There is huge collection of prehistoric paintings that were displayed all over the India in this Gallery of Rock Art. They are the collections of about 14-13 thousands of years from 2000-1500 B.C.
There were collections of paintings mainly paintings of Ragmala, new paintings of Nicholas Roerich, modern paintings, paintings of Haldar, Asit Kumar, and Anagarika Govind from the painters of Bengal School are more worth mentioned.

In the area of historic park of Chandrashekhar Azad, this museum is located on the side of Kamla Nehru Road.
By Road
One can visit this museum through road that are very good in state of Allahabad. Most of the service is provided by the buses of UPSRTC to other cities in state of Uttar Pradesh. There is also bus service available for Kolkata and Delhi.
By Rail
The main railway station is situated at Allahabad that has its connections with the other cities of India.
By Air
About 15 km far from the center of the city, the domestic airport of Allahabad is located named as Bamrauli airport.
Timings and Ticket Prices
This museum is mainly opened for public from Tuesday to Sunday. This museum also provides various services like free entrance for program based on conference or education, provision of publication, free guide service, facility of air conditioned library for the students, and replicas and photographs on a cheap rates.
