Fort Of King Vishal Vaishali
Fort of King Vishal is the oldest democratic ruling point in India. At the time of King Vishal, the entire empire was governed under democratic ruling system and at that time, decentralization of government functionary was well established. This fort is located at 55 kilometers distance from Patna city, the state capital of Bihar. The fort was constructed at the walking distance from the parliament house of that period so as to look after all the administrative and political affairs of the empire. It is evident from the history that King Vishal himself was a follower of decentralization of power. According to some historians, King Vishal faced a lot of problems in his starting period as the public was habitual of kingship ruling and for the first time they felt the freedom to govern the state by their own efforts. But later the things were converted into normal and democracy was proved to be the best ruling system not only in India but in the entire world. At present this fort is preserved as national heritage building by Archeological Survey of India and a museum is established here to display the facts and figures of that period.
