In the Pudukkottai district of Tamil Nadu, Aranthangi Fort is located in the Aranthangi town. This fort was built by the Tondaiman Kings in the 16th and 17th century. Near to this fort, a temple of Hindus is present that was constructed in 11th century by the Rajendra Chola.

This Aranthangi town is the second biggest town in the district of Pudukkottai. Till the addition in the Pudukkottai, Aranthangi is the town having largest population in the south Thanjavur district. This Aranthangi town has importance due to this Aranthangi ruined fort.

Main common feature of this fort is that it has interstices that made by filling of mud not with the stone or bricks. There is no symbol of strike building or ruins palace.

Architecture

There is very unique feature about the fort of Aranthangi. The structure of this fort was made by filling of mud not by the bricks and stones just like other forts. There are no more ruins of any fort or pieces of any palace or building were found. Only a limited information have been collected about this Aranthangi fort.

By Air

At the 60 km of distance, the nearby airport is situated in Tiruchirappalli.

By Rail

The main railway line is at Chennai Rameshwaram that has connection with the cities like Thanjavur, Madurai, and Tiruchirappalli. Pudukkottai is the nearby railway station.

By Road

Pudukkottai is the main town through which one can visit Aranthangi via the rail, road or any other transport easily. Through the link with road, Pudukkottai is properly connected to Thanjavur, Madurai, Rameshwaram, and Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur and all other nearest town. One can visit all the areas nearby Pudukkottai through the local bus service.
