Popularly known as the Rice City, Gondia is an administrative district located in the Maharashtra state of India. The name rice city originates due to the extremity of Rice Mills across Gondia.

Gondia boasts of approximately 250 mills of rice and huge number of tobacco industries as well, being very near to Madhya Pradesh, Gondia again serves as the gateway to Maharashtra from eastern and Central India.

Gondia boasts of an area of 4843 sq kms and a total population of 1,200,151 people.
The 8th century scholar Bhavbhuti who was very well known for his plays, poetries written in the language of Sanskrit also belongs to this place. He is considered equivalent to the Kalidas due to his excellent works.

Manohar Bhai Patel Institute of Engineering and Technology is a famous institution of Gondia, boasting itself as the biggest resident college of the area. Paneer Butter Masala and poha with chana is again the most famous delicacies of this area.

Gondia is also witnessing huge industrial growth in various sectors and one of these notable projects is the Adani Power Project based here. “Birsi Airport” the native one for the district is also on its way to be functional very soon.
