Gadchiroli is an administrative district situated in the Maharashtra state of India. It marks its creation on 26th August 1982 by the separation of two tehsils from Chandrapur District.

Godavari forms the main river basin of this district and the two major tributaries Indravati and the Pranhita, are formed here. Gadchiroli boasts of a population of 970,294 people and is equipped with people speaking 7 different languages viz; Chattisgadi, Bengali, Gondi, Madiya, Marathi and Telgu.

Gadchiroli is known for Bamboo and the Tendu leaves. The district marks Paddy as the prime agricultural product. Farming is the major occupation of people here. Other agricultural products of the district can be termed as Tur, Wheat, Jowar and Linseed. Gadchiroli is also notorious for its Naxalite Movements.

The dense forests and hills of this area serve as a refuge to the Naxalites and their organization. Gadchiroli is subdivided into three of the subdivisions. Desaiganj, Aheri and Gadchiroli are the three subdivisions which are further subdivided into twelve talukas

Currently when the constituencies were delimited in 2008, the district was provided with three of the Vidhan Sabha known as Legislative Assembly viz; Aheri, Armori and Gadchiroli. These newly are termed as the carved Gadchiroli-Chimur Lok Sabha constituency.
