Commonly known as City of Black Gold, Chandrapur belongs to the Nagpur Division and is located in the Maharashtra state of India. It was divided into the separate district of Gadchiroli else it used to be the largest district of India.

Chandrapur district occupies an area of 11,443 km² and has huge population count of 20, 71,101 people. Chandrapur is quite popular for its super thermal plant which is amongst the biggest plants in the whole of Asian Region. Moreover due to abundance of Coal, Limestone it is also a major supplier of these to industries like Ultra Tech Cement, Ambuja Cement, ACC and Manikgarh situated into the district.

“Tadoba Andhari National park” is one of the prominent features of this area and is marked in the list of 28 reserves of Project Tiger. 
This place is also blessed with the presence of Ancient Temples like Ankleshwar and Mahakali, which calls for thousands of devotees throughout the year thereby contributing to the tourism of this place.

“Narsimha Rao”, a prime minister of India was also stationed at Chandrapur when Nizam ruled Hyderabad. Balwantrao Deshmukh, the main follower of Bal Gangadhar Tilak also finds his roots attached to this place and due to his efforts Tilak laid the foundation of “Lokmanya Tilak Vidyalaya” here.
