Summary: The administrative headquarters of Guna district is in the Guna town which is a progressive city of Madhya Pradesh (MP). This central Indian district borders with prominent locations of India.

Headquartered at its administrative town of same name, Guna district is another district of MP having been excelled over the period. According to 2011 census this district has population of 12,40,938 whose total area is 6485 km². Other districts Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Vidisha and Rajgarh surround Guna from northeast, southeast and southwest respectively. Two Rajasthan districts Jhalawar and Baran are bordering with Guna district. It had been split into two on August 15, 2003 to pave the way for the creation of Ashoknagar district from its eastern region.  

Today Guna district has four sub-divisions Guna city, Raghogarh, Aron and Chanchoda as divisional ruling centers. These subdivisions have been divided into five tehsils Guna, Raghogarh, Aron, Kumbhraj and Chanchoda for democratic ruling. Guna, with its current population density of 194 /km² leaves good scope for overall progresses. The urban population of Guna is 24.46% of the total population which have impacted for industrial development and fast paced growth and modernity.

It is unfortunate though that the sex ratio of Guna is 910 females per 1000 males which is a question of major concern.  Guna has four Vidhan Sabha constituencies out of which two are part of Rajgarh Lok Sabha constituency.
