Southern border of Dindori is surrounded by Bilaspur district of Chattisgarh State. This district was created on 25th May, 1998.  Total area of Dindori is 6,128 km² accommodating 579,312 people (according to 2001 census).

Proximity of Dindori at mere 144 Km from Jabalpur is greatly noticed. Nearby holy place of Amarkantak is located at the distance of mere 88 which otherwise increases its popularity.
