Sri Darbar Sahib Taran Taran
Gurudwara Sri TarnTaran Sahib was established by Guru Arjan Dev. It is located in Amritsar near Harmandir Sahib. The major attraction unit of the Gurudwara is the festival of Amavasya. People in large number gather here to view the holy shrine. It is also known for its largest water pond among all Gurudwaras.
History
Its establishment started in 1590 by Guru Arjan Dev in Punjab. During that period, digging of the tank was in process. After its completion, it was found that it is the biggest water pond in Punjab. The first stone of Darbar was bedded by Baba Buddha Ji.
Later, Darbar Sahib was reconstructed by Ranjit Singh in 1836. Ranjit Singh was also known as Sher-e-Punjab at that time.
Architecture
The entrance gate of Gurudwara Sri TarnTaran Sahib is so huge that elephants could easily enter through it. The Gurudwara consists of one tower at the ending point of water pond. Darbar Sahib was reconstructed in 1970 and this time it was made gold plated. And around the whole complex, some more buildings were also constructed.
How to Reach
The Gurudwara Sri TarnTaran Sahib is in Amritsar, which consists of easier routes. It well connected with other parts of the country. Besides that, travelling routes has made it easier to cover the distance. One can use his own vehicle to reach Gurudwara. Rail lines and airlines are always available for Amritsar. From there one can visit Gurudwara.
