Anand, situated in the western part of India, is an administrative district of the state of Gujrat. The administrative headquarters of the district lies in Anand. In the year 1997, this district was formed from the district of Kheda.

The district of Anand is called the ‘Milk Capital of India.’ It received fame because of the Milk Revolution by the Amul dairy company. This place has the famous Anand Agriculture University and the National Dairy Development Board. The Nana Adadh is a portion of the Anand district.

The district is located in the south of Gujrat and encompasses an area of about 2951 square kilometers. The chief rivers which flow through the district are Navida, Shedhi, Mahisagar and Sabarmati.

The district lies in between Vadodara and Ahmedabad and thus well-linked with several cities in India. This district undergoes intense weather conditions during summer as well as winter. Although the city of Anand is a small one yet it is an important town of the Gujrat state.
