Raigarh district is situated in the State of Chhattisgarh. Raigarh is famous for its 'kosa' or tasar (a kind of fine silk created by the silk worm feeding on mulberry fruit). This district is well known as the World's largest sponge iron plant. There aremany other industries that surround this city.

History:

As per historians, Raigarh was considered a royal state before independence. It is still occupied by the earlier king and his family. They do not collect rent now, but still lead a royal life. Their palace MotiMahal is in a bad state and poorly maintained. The State government declared it as a heritage site recently.
