Dehradun Cantonment
Dehradun Cantonment is one of the 62 Military Cantonments of India, situated at Dehradun District in the State of Uttarakhand in India, established during Britisher’s time, where because of its beautiful climatic conditions, few other Military establishments and training Institutes are organised, while Dehradun itself is historically famous out of a couple of Ghurka wars, and even mythologically quoted to be the place where Lakshman brother of Sri Ram performed his sacrificial rituals here.
History
Dehradun District has few other Military establishments raised by Britishraj, including Clement Town, while Dehradun Cantonment town has in its proximity, the Indian Military Academy (IMA) established in the year 1932, whereas another establishment, the Joint Services Wing (JSW) which was established in 1948 at Dehradun was renamed as National Defence Academy in 1950 was moved to Khadakwasla in Pune sometime in 1954.
Demographics
Dehradun Cantonment area has a population of about 30000 people as per the 2001 Government of India Census, of which 52% is composed of male population, remaining 48% with female population, the average literacy rate of this region coming to 79% which is higher than the literacy average of the country, while 82% and 76% of the male and female population of Dehradun cantonment are literates respectively.
Education
Many schools giving education from KG to 12th are functioning around Dehradun Cantonment, famous for their method and quality of education, which include Universal Academy, a school known for it interactive learning practice.
