Chittoor is a district located in the state of Andhra Pradesh with its headquarters at Chittoor City. Until 1884, the district was a British military post. On 1st April 1911, the district came into existence.

The district is stretched over an area of fifteen thousand three hundred fifty nine square kilometer. The common language of the people in this region is Tamil but Urdu is also the second official language of the place.

Because of the difference in altitudes, the climate in the western parts is different from that of the eastern parts. The summers in the western side rises to even forty six degrees centigrade while in the eastern parts it is around thirty seven degree centigrade. Consequently, during winters, the temperature in the western part is as low as twelve degree centigrade while in the Eastern parts it is comparatively higher and the lowest temperature is around sixteen degree centigrade. The annual rainfall in the district is around 918 mm.

Chittoor is situated in the valley of the Ponni River providing great scenic beauty. There are many tourist attractions in the district including some old temples and national parks. They include.
