Adilabad is a district located at Andhra Pradesh with its headquarters located in the town of Adilabad. The district is named after Ali Adil Shah I. Bijapur, the Sultanate ruler. The district was declared as an independent district only in the year 1905. Before that it was just a sub-district in the name of Sirpur-Tandur.

The district is the fifth largest district in Andhra Pradesh covering an area of sixteen thousand one hundred twenty eight square kilometer. The district consists mainly of rural people. Majority of people are Hindus but Muslims and Buddhists also resides in the district. The literacy rate of the district is very low.

The climate of the place is dry, except the period of south-west monsoon. The summers are quite hot and dry while the winters are comparatively pleasant with minimum temperature being around fifteen degree centigrade. The showers brought in by south-west monsoons with an average annual rainfall of about 1044.50 mm.

The famous Godavari River starts from Western Ghats and enters the district forming its southern boundary. This district is full of natural beauty and is famous for the rivers and waterfalls, green forests and the wild animal sanctuaries. The main places for tourist attractions are:
