Hisar Deer Park, Haryana

The park contains some rare species of deer which are rarely found in other parts of the country. Blackbuck, Spotted Deer and Sambher are the major attractions of the place. It is located just 6 km from the bus stand and about 7 km from the railway station.

History

Hisar Deer Park remains one of the oldest zoo and deer parks of Haryana and became popular because of its rare deer. The main motive of launching this park was to make the public aware of decreasing population of deer in the area and also educate them about conservation of flora and fauna.

A major attraction of the state, the deer park has been visited by famous personalities and they have acknowledged the beauty of the place. Animals here roam around in the open and one can have a look at them from a distance. Since it is not as big as other zoos and parks in the state, the idea of a toy train never hit the government and that is why it has remained a dedicated deer park since its inception with no museums and libraries which most of the zoos have in India.

Though it is famous for its deer population, the park is a natural mini-jungle which has been conserved by the authorities in its original condition, since it was first inaugurated. It has been maintained by forest officials as well as the state government as it has been one of the main attractions of the city which attracts locals as well as tourists.

  • You are not allowed to touch the animals without the permission of authorities. There have been cases where people have tried to touch them and have been injured due to the deer panicking and attacking the visitor. Otherwise, all the animals in the park are peaceful and never show any violent behaviour.
