There are more than one wildlife sanctuaries in the beautiful land of India which attract thousands of tourists around the year. Sechu Tuan Nala is one such wonderful wildlife sanctuary located in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Sechu Tuan Nala is situated on a quite high altitude and is home to a variety of trees and animals. Some of the animals which the tourists can spot in this area are Pheasants, Musk deer and Ibex and snow leopards are also seen at some points.
Weather and Best Time to Visit:
If the visitors plan to visit the sanctuary during the best season then that would be from the month of June till the month of September as during that time the weather in the area is truly pleasurable. The lowest temperature in Sechu Tuan Nala can go below the freezing point up to -20 deg C and the highest temperature recorded in the area is around 27 deg C and the yearly rainfall is noted around 500mm.
How to Reach:
There are many routes to reach Sechu Tuan Nala sanctuary and one of them is Delhi to Chamba via Pathankot and to Sach Pass which is operational from June till the month of October then through Sathraundi to Kilar and then reaching Sechu by walking. The second option open to people is Kishtwar to Sarsu and reaching Tholi to Ishtiari to Killar and then to Saj and then reaching the final destination which is Sechu. It is to be noted that after reaching Sarsu the visitors have to complete the remaining journey on foot. There is a third alternative open to the tourists as well which is from Kyelang till Nigari and then reach Sach Khas by walking. Sach Khas happens to be located just next to the Sechu Tuan Nala sanctuary.
The flora which can be found in the sanctuary is moist alpine scrubs macrocephala plus Ephedra gerardiana.
There are many kinds of animals that can be spotted in the area such as Himalayan black bear, brown bear, Goral, Ibex, common langur, serow, Musk deer, blue sheep and snow leopard. Other than animals some birds also find home in the area and they are Alpine Accentor and Prunella collaris.
Timings and Fees:
There is no fixed rule for entering the Sechu Tuan Nala sanctuary.
Where to Stay:
The visitors to this sanctuary can find accommodation in the tree rest houses built in the sanctuary itself and these rest houses possess a total count of 12 beds.
- The visitors must not trouble the animals in any circumstances as many of the night animals sleep in the day.
- The tourists must also take care to avoid irritating the animals or teasing them in any manner plus no flash photography is allowed in the premises as that may harm the animals.
- Picnicking, camping and smoking are prohibited inside the Sechu Tuan Nala sanctuary plus it is recommended for the tourists to carry a lot of water with them.
- It is advisable to hire guides and opt for some simple and loose fitting attire to explore the sanctuary.
