Sutarfeni
Brief Description
Sutarfeni is a delightful and more popular Indian dessert. It is available mostly sweet shops, which is decorated with pistachios. Sutarfeni is made with phyllo sheets (dough or shredded phyllo pastry), sugar, margarine, water, pistachios powder, saffron strands, almonds and cardamom powder. Time to Prepare Minutes - 15 Time for cooking Minutes - 30 Serves 4 Ingredients For Sutarfeni
- Phyllo sheets (shredded phyllo pastry or dough) - 1 box
- Sugar - 4 cups
- Water - 2 cups
- For frying - margarine (preferably crisco)
- Finely ground powder - ( powdered pistachios , saffron (kesar) strands , powdered almonds (badam) and cardamom powder)
How to make Sutarfeni
- Prepare 1 – strand sugar syrup. Set aside to cool completely.
- Now keep katafi out of the box (some at a time), Cover it nicely with wet cloth.
- Drop the little saffron at a time and curve it into the circle. Collect it on a plate and cover it nicely.
- Now put the Crisco on flame and heat it. Transfer the curve katafi in a spoon with holes. Allow it for deep fry till it becomes golden color.
- Erase all the fried circles and pile up (it won’t get spoilt).
- Now dip each circle in the sugar syrup with the help of your hands.
- Keep it up the container for few minutes till it drained nicely.
- Move it in the container and place it in.
- Garnish with pistachios and serve.
Some Useful Tips
You can reheat sutarfeni, Take care defrost the room temperature then garnish some milk or water. Allow microwave to warm hot temperature.
