Gulpoli
Brief Description
Galpoli is most delightful and delicious sweet dish that is made all over India. It is made during festival such as Makar Sankranti, which is celebrated in the winter in India. Gulpoli is a Makar Sankranti special sweet dish. It is very easy to make by following this recipe.
Ingredients For Gul poli

Ingredients for the stuffing:
- Grated Jaggery (prefer Indian Kolhapuri jaggery) - 3 cups
- Sesame seed powder - 1 cup
- Roasted dry coconut(can use the shredded dry coconut) - 1 cup
- Besan - 1 cup
- Cardamom powder (or as per your taste) - 1/2 tea spoon
- Nutmeg powder (or as per your taste) - 1/4 tea spoon
- Ghee to roast besan - 3 Table spoon
- Ghee for serve
Ingredients for the dough:
- Maida - 1 cup
- Wheat flour (atta) - 1 cup
- Oil - 1 tea-spoon
How to make Gulpoli
- Put the Sesame on average heat for roast. Keep aside for properly cool and then grate it. Make sure not too stick.
- Grind the jaggery.
- Now keep the dry coconut for roast until they become slightly pink. Set aside to cool completely and grate it with your hands until it becomes powder.
- Take the ghee and add the besan on average heat and roast it till they change color.
- Now combine all mixture dry coconut, Sesame seed powder, cardamom powder, nutmeg powder, besan and jaggery completely.
- Add the oil, maida, water, pinch of salt and flour and prepare dough. Blend it well.
- Keep the dough in a bowl and fingering the dough with slight oil. Set aside for few hours.
- To make chappati, take a little lime shape dough and filling 1-1/2 tb. Spoon put on it. Make sure all sides close and filling is covered properly. Now roll it like chappati of 6-7 inches nicely. Meal it with maida. As rolling it. Make it without ghee on both sides, on hot pan.
- Gulpoli is ready to enjoy eating and serve it with ground nut and oil.
Some Useful Tips
You can store it for 3-4 months in the refrigerator, if stuffing is prepared in advance.
