Gharge
Brief Description
Gharge is known as sweet puri that is made all over India. It is a traditional dessert of Maharashtra. The term literally means “Lal Bhopla” in Marathi. Gharge is easy and quick to make by following this recipe and you can store it 7-8 days without cooling.
Ingredients For Gharge
- Butternut squash or pumpkin - 1 piece
- Cup grated jiggery - 1/4
- Salt - A generous pinch
- Cup wheat flour - 1
- Cup fine rava - 1/2
- Ghee or Oil for fry
How to make Gharge
- Grate and bark pumpkin/squash nicely. Make sure there are no seed and silky threads inside it before cooking.
- Take a pan; add the jiggery and grated squash/pumpkin and cook it till the jiggery melts. Keep aside for slightly cool.
- Now add the wheat flour and fine rava and blend it nicely.
- Cut it into 21 small pieces and Boil the ghee for deep fry.
- Now make it into puries shape and transfer to the pan for fry until they are golden or brown.
- Take them out from pan and serve warm.

Some Useful Tips
- You can use rice flour instead of wheat flour.
- You can use jiggery as per your taste.
- No need to add water for blending.
