Chirote
Brief Description
Chirote is one of the most popular desserts of Maharashtra. It is particularly made during occasion like diwali. It is easy to make with using sooji & Maida.
Time to Prepare Minutes-15 Time for cooking Minutes-45 Serves Pieces-4 Ingredients For Chirote
- 3 cups - Refined flour (Maida)
- 3/4 cup - Semolina (Rawa Bareek / Suji)
- 1/2 cup - Cornflour
- 1 cup approx - Clarified butter (Sajuk thup)
- 1/2 kg - Powdered Sugar (Pithee sakhar)
- Refined oil
- Any - Food colours
How to make Chirote
Procedure for Satha (butter spread)
- Knead the butter properly until the creamy white.
- Take the corn flour in a bowl and mix the butter properly, and stirring it continuously till the preferred consistency is reached.
- Do it well and set aside.
Procedure for Chirote
- To make chirote, Add sooji, a pinch of salt, maida and 2tbsp of hot butter and knead it properly.
- Blend it in average soft flour using water and set aside for few time 4-5 hrs in an air tight container.
- Cut into 6-big balls shape and add colors in it as per your taste. After that roll them in chapattis and then spread the butter on one side of it.
- For stick chapattis, allow it very fine layer together.
- Make all the chapattis rolled properly after putting the clarified butter spread and roll it them together. Keep in mind that you roll them slightly tight.
- Now cut it into small pieces as an above picture.
- Garnish little dough on your stage and then transfer the small pieces on it.
- Make sure the joint of the roll must be at the bottom.
- Now roll out them on each small piece in a round shape without pressing too much pressure.
- Take ghee in a pan and put it on average heat.
- When the oil is hot, move in the rolled out chirote and fry until it is crispy.
- Take them out from the pan and garnished sugar on it as per your taste.
- Keep aside for cooling and after that place it in an air tight container.
Some Useful Tips
- Keep in mind that the chirotes must be chilled before placing otherwise they will turn soft.
- Apply a very fine layer, it helps stick chapattis together.
