Khalilabad is one of the district headquarters of Sant Kabir Nagar district. It is also a city and a municipality in Sant Kabir Nagar district in U.P. About 1860 AD Qazi Khalil-ur-Rahman, chakladar of Gorakhpur was the establisher of this place and thats why the place had got the name from it. Khalilabad is the midpoint of Gorakhpur and Basti as it is situated on the Faizabad-Gorakhpur road.

In Khalilabad one of the foremost attractions is Bardahia Bazar which is well known for its handlooms. This tahsil building is an enforcing structure constructed after the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857 is located south of the road to Gorakhpur.
