History:

During 10th to 16th century Mahoba was the capital of the Chandela Rajputs. The name Mahoba is derived from Mahotsav Nagar, the city of great festivals. the Chauhan King Prithvi Rajcaptured Mahoba despite the brave fight put up by the Banafer brothers, Alha and Udal. Mahoba lost its independence and became part of the Delhi Sultanate.
