Rajasthan Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve
Mukundara Tiger Reserve is a popular tiger reserve which was announced by the government of India in August 2012. Earlier it was known as Mukundara Hills National Park. This tiger reserve encompasses three wildlife national parks – Chambal, Jawahar Sagar and Darrah. This tiger reserve was a hunting preserve which belonged to Maharaja of Kota. As a thickly forested tiger reserve, it lies along the southeastern border of Kota, Rajasthan.
As this tiger reserve is thickly forested, the tourists prefer visiting this wildlife sanctuary. The hill tiger reserve is stretched on a vast area of 250 sq km which is just 50km away from Rajasthan Kota. The government of Rajasthan is taking appropriate measures for saving the big cats of this tiger reserve.
History
Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve is a 5th largest tiger reserve, as announced by the government of India. Presently this tiger reserve is spread on an area of 250 sq km but it is announced that it will further be expanded to 759 sq kms. The reserve is expected to put at ease the big cat populace in Rajasthan, which will cover Chambal, Jawahar Sagar and Darrah.
The state government has been authorized to announce this area as Tiger Reserve as per the section 38 V of recognized Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. The NTCA had earlier acknowledged MHTR as an extension of main area of the well known Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve.
Weather and Best Time to Visit
Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve is located 50kms away from Kota. Weather here is fairly consistent all around the year. But it is best to avoid this place during November to January as the city seems crowded to great extent.

The ideal time to visit Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve is January to March as the climate is dry and is considered best to visit.

There are many places around Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve which the tourists can visit and enjoy to their best. Few of these are Darrah Wildlife Sanctuary, Keshoraipatan, Sorsan Grasslands, Bhainsrodgrah fort, badoli temples, Jhalawar, Chandkheri, Gagron fort, and Jhalarapatan etc.
How to Reach
By Train
Kota is the nearest railway station which is located near Mukundara Hill Tiger Reserve. It is well connected to Delhi, Mumbai and other main cities of the country. Different express, passengers, and super fast trains run from and to Kota.
By Air
Sanganer Airport is located in Jaipur which is approximately 245 kms away from main city Kota. On reaching this airport, you can hire a cab and reach Kota and then further move ahead for Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve.
By Road
There are Rajasthan Road Transport Corporation buses which connect Kota to different cities.
Upon reaching Kota through any of these modes of conveyance, you can hire a jeep, taxi, or private cab and reach this Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve,

Flora
Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve is a thick forest which has different species of flora. You can find medicinal and botanical plants in great numbers. There are tall trees and dense forests in this tiger reserve.
Fauna
Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve is a home to different mammals, reptiles, and birds. Presently it has 50 tigers while is a home to different species of wildlife creatures which include:
