This Pench Tiger Reserve is one of the exclusive project tiger reserves and it is having an area of 293 square km. This place is situated in Chhindwara and Seoni distruc and it is present in the central India. This lies in the southern area and it comprises of the levels 1, 13,222 and it is known to have the deciduous forests. You will be getting here to check ample of streams and that are mainly seasonal. During the end of April, this would get dried up and dohs; that are also known as water pools would be providing water to the human beings. The biggest problem is that water has not been distributed in the proper manner and due to which wild animals cannot utilize it properly. During pinch period, this would be serving as one of the prominent water sources. Prey concentration is very high and you would find ample of tigers present at this place. Leopards would be coming only in peripheral areas and you can see them in deep forest parts as well. Tourists can also check out the jungle cats along with palm civets and Leopard cats. You would also get to see the nilgai, Cheetal and sambar and that would be grazing on open sites. There are numerous jackals that would be grazing on park and they would be searching for food. You would also get to view the wild dogs and that would be present in the number of 15 and they are present near to the Jamtara, Pyorthadi, Chhedia and Jamtara. You would get to view the herds near bamboo patches and stream and that would be present especially in the summer months. Sloth beer would be present near to the rocky and hilly region and Chinakra are present in very less numbers and they would be mainly spreading in Turia, Dudhgaon and Telia villages.
This is one of the areas that is very rich in wildlife and you can also check out the ancient records that were made available in the sixteenth century. If you go through the British documents, then this place is known to have the marvelous beauty and rich flora and fauna diversity. Central India Highlands got published in the year 1871 and then you can also check out the Brander that is 1923 and Sterndale that is 1887. Rudyard Kipling has done a lot of fiction works and he has written numerous jungle books as well. During the time of 17th century, Gond rulers have eradicated the dwellings and cultivation tracts and this was continued till 1818 and then it was being ruled by Marathas and then it was under the control of British. It was until the 1862 that many efforts were done for controlling the destruction process. It was in the 1977 in September that this sanctuary got notified with an area of 450 km square. Now, this sanctuary has been given the name Indira Priyadarshini National Park and this was effectually done in the 1983. This comes on the 19th number and it was the part of Project Tiger in year 1992 November. One of the significant facts is that Bor sanctuary and adjacent areas would be merged into this sanctuary and they would be used at satellite area and that would be more than the Tiger reserve.
Weather And Best Time To Visit
Indian central highlands are known for having the monsoonal tropical continental climate and From July till September, it would be a distinct monsoon and from November till February, it would be winter and from April to June, it would be summer. Annual rainfall would be approximately 1400 mm and during the dry season, the rainfall would be approximately 60 mm and temperature of this place would be minimum 0 degree and till 45 degree in summer.

Flora And Fauna
This is one of the sanctuaries that belong to phyto-geographical indo-Malayalam region. It is one of the areas that are known to have the deciduous habitat of tigers and this place is ideally classified by the Seth and Champion.

Teak is regarded as the ubiquitous species and it is mainly present in the sporadic region and it is known to have the association with some of the following species- Diospyros melanoxylon, Madhuca indica, Lagerstroemia parviflora, Terminalia tomentosa, Miliusa velutina, Ougeinia dalbergoides, Buchanania lanzan and Lannea coromandalica. If you check out the hill slopes and undulating terrain and then they would be having the mixed forest patches and that is effectually dominated through the Anogeissus latifolia and Boswellia serrata. You would also get to check out the Gardenia latifolia and Sterculia urens species on the rocky slopes and various streams. These parks have also got the open patches and that are mainly covered through tall grasses and that comprises of Zizyphus mauritiana and Butea monosperma. You would also get to check out the species of evergreen trees and that would be Ixora parviflora, Syzygium cumini and Terminalia arjuna and all of them are having the riparian vegetation and they are present on river banks and nullahs. You can also check out the dominant patches of Cleistanthus collinus and they are present at Tiger reserve. There are tracts that were covering the village’s pastures and now they constitute the grassy meadows and they are mainly favored through gregarious herbivores. During the time of summer, all the open reserve area would be getting increased up, mainly due to the water.
Zoo-geographically, this reserve is present on the oriental region. Tiger is regarded as carnivore fauna and you would also get to check out the leopard, jungle cat, dhole and Indian small civet along with the wolf as well. Some of the other species includes- sloth bear, jackal, striped hynea, palm civet and many more. You would also get to check out- sambar, gaur (frontalis Bos Lambert), wild pig, Chital, barking deer and nilgai. These are some of the wild species that are present at this park and you can also see sambar, chital, wild pigs and nilgai as well. All the patterns at this reserve are regulated by water distribution and that would be occupying the forests along with Pench River and then they would be migrating towards hill forests especially in the monsoon season. You can check out the nilgai mainly in the open areas and these are mainly present in fringe areas and forest roads. Chowsingha are mainly present in the undulating area and barking deer would be present in the rivertine stretches and you would also get to view the chinkara especially in the open parts and they are also present in the buffer zone as well. You would also get to check out common langur along with rhesus macaque and these reflect primate fauna of this place. Indian porcupine and other 2 mongoose species that is ruddy mongoose along with the black naped are also present in Tiger reserve. Rhesus macaque and common langur represent of orimate fauna in this area. Tourists would also get to see the various species of mongoose and you can also check them out on the project tiger reserve.
This is one of the exotic reserves and it comprises an area of approximately 758 km squares and it is having the deciduous tropical south Indian forest that comprises of dry deciduous tropical teak. Pench grasslands are not at all extensive as they are present in Kanha Park. This area also comprises of numerous rivulets and that are mainly seasonal. This park would be getting dried up in the April end and ample of pools that are used for providing the water to the wild animals; they would get empty. This Pench reservoir has got the name of Totlah Doh and it is regarded as ecosystem lifeline and this serves as the major source for providing the water.
You would get to check out the high prey base especially in the dense areas and this is one of the perfect places to search for trek tigers. Leopards are also present in massive numbers and you can find them along with the panther and they are mainly present in core areas. Jungle cats are mainly present in core region along with the buffer zones and they include the Indian civets, porcupines, Leopard cat and these all are nocturnal. This is one of the most popular parks and it is very rich in more than 250 species and that includes Raptors, ducks, owls, Barbets and Francolins.
This is one of the parks and it is opened for all the visitors from the morning 6:00 am to 6:00 pm in evening. You can easily explore fauna and flora at this park.

Fishing is banned and you are requested to follow all the terms and conditions. You can also check out Kumbhababa, Kandadev and Bagdev temples. It is highly recommended that all the terms and conditions should be followed.
