Tarapith temple is famous for its sacred Tantric rites that formed the nearby cremation ground. It is a Tantric Hindu temple and famous for performing various Tantric practices. According to Hindu mythology, goddess Tara is a divine mother and famous for her cult. The temple is frequented by cult people who want to gain spiritual and supernatural psychic abilities.
History
However, there is no proper evidence available regarding the origin and construction date of the temple yet it is believed that it was constructed centuries ago by an unknown dynasty. The main presiding deity here is Goddess Tara who is believed to be a goddess of tantra or spiritual practices for gaining psychic abilities. Remember, Tarapith is a temple town and basically famous for its various Tantric activities. It is believed if a cult person performed his spiritual practices near the Tarapith temple then he/she would be granted various Sidhdhis or paranormal abilities.
Weather and time to visit
Like all other parts of the state West Bengal, Tarapith town also enjoys the tropical climate condition. It means during summer, the temperature rises to 45 degree Celsius while in winter it may drop down to minimum 5 degree Celsius. Monsoon normally starts in the month of July and end in the month of August. So, the best time to get there is from the month of March to October.
