Uttaranchal Ukhimath Temple
Ukhimath refers to one of the pilgrimage site that is located in the district of Rudraprayag which is a part of state, Uttarakand. Two idols, from Hindu methodology from Kedarnath temple and Madhyameheshwar temple, are brought in the pilgrimage region of Ukhimath and people worship them full devotion. There are other pilgrimage destination that are located close to Ukhimath such as Deoria Tal which is a lake of fresh water, Madhyamaheshwar temple which is referred as second Kedarnath, Tungnath ji which is third Kedarnath along with many picturesque places. You will find a place here which is named as Ushamath.. People of this region celebrate the festival-Doli. In the winter season, devotees of lord Shiva bring Kedarnath doli to this place. They celebrate this festival with full enthusiasm and spirit.
There are many gods and goddesses who are worshiped by the people of this region such as lord Shiva, Mandhata, Aniruddha and goddess Paravati. People of Ukhimath believe in many rituals and every year perform various yagya and puja's so as keep this place in peace and harmony with nature.
History
The architectural style of Ukhimath is north Indian. According to the Hindu rituals the history of Ukhimath is quite old. There are few stories about this place which signify that Ukhimath name was derived from Vanasur's daughter's name, Usha. Her wedding was performed here and after that this place received its name.
This place signifies the wedding place of Usha, who was Vanasur's daughter, with lord Krishna's grandson Anirudh

By Air
People who wish to travel by air can book their flight from anywhere in India to "JOLLY GRANT AIRPORT". It is one of the nearest airports. From Ukhimath this airport is 198 kilometers far away. It is well connected from Delhi airpot and daily there are five to six flights commuting between these two airports.
By Road
Ukhimath is well-connected with national highways from different regions of India. State government runs buses and local taxies are available. You can travel along the road that connects Guptkashi and Gopeshwar. From other parts of the state people can also hire private taxi to reach this place as well.
By Rail
Most economical way to reach any destination is railways. Rishikesh is the nearest railway station for Ukhimath. This place has well developed railways and one will have to travel 174 kilometers from Rishikesh to reach Ukhimath rail station. After reaching Rishikesh people can take cab, taxi or buses to travel the state of Uttarkhand.
Important Shrines
Most important sightseeing in Ukhimath is Omkareshwar Peeth. It is regarded as the oldest temple in India. From Kedarnath, the deities are brought to this peeth in winter and people perform certain rituals and worship their god in order to receive full blessing from lord Shiva. In month of November, the deities from the Madmaheswar temple are also brought to Ukhimath for worshipping. These deities are carried back to their original temple in the months of May.
Guptkashi which is thirteen kilometer far away from Ukhimath is another nice place to visit.
