Uttaranchal Sidhbali Mandir Kotdwara
The Siddhibali Temple is located at a distance of merely two km from Kotdwar. The temple of Siddhibali is in dedication of Lord Hanuman. There are several numbers of devotees who come here and offer their prayers throughout the year. It is one of the most well known place and people consider it a place truly worth visiting.
The temple of Shri SidhBali Dham situated at the town of Kotdwar in the district of Pauri Garhwal in Uttarakhand lies around 210 km away from Delhi whereas it lies 76 km distant from Haridwar if one takes a route via Nazibabad.
The temple has in its surroundings, the rushing river of Khoh and the beautiful range of mountains. The temple had once got broken nearly one third of it because of a land slide which happened some years ago. It had survived this destruction miraculously and thus strengthening the faith of the people there. At present it stands on the top of town just like the icon of city. People believe that Hanumanji had himself given support to the structure of the temple on his shoulders.
History
There is a belief that Guru Gorakhnath along with his pupils belonging to the Nath community who are often referred to as Sidh or Saint had done their meditation at this place for a long duration. Therefore several saints started coming here for meditation. Few of them are Baba Sitaram ji, Baba Narayan Das Ji, Baba Gopal Das Ji and saint Sevadas Ji as well as Falahari Baba Ji had done his meditation here for several years.
According to the history known, Saint Sidhwa who was there in 14th Century had done his meditation here and is today worshipped as Sidh here in this temple.
How to Reach
Air
One can reach Kotdwar by air through the Jollygrant airport which lies in the close proximity of this place. Jollygrant is near Dehradun and is 91 km distant from Haridwar.
Rail
One can reach Kotdwar from Delhi through trains. There are a number of trains running from prominent cities of the country with the help of which one can access Kotdwar such like Mussouri Express as well as 4044 Garhwal Express to name a few. These trains can be availed from railway station of Old Delhi. There is a computerized system of booking tickets at the reservation counter of railway station of Kotdwar found.
Road
There is a well maintained bus service available from Roadways of Uttarakhand as well as UP roadways for reaching Kotdwar from Anand Vihar ISBT and other different places. Significance of Kotdwar
Kotdwar emerged as a commercial center not too many years back but recently. However the place was not at all developed but simply a small market until the year 1953 A.D. and the prominent center of business was Dogadda. But in the year 1953, there were big changes witnessed by the place and it got good connectivity of rails. There was a major shift among the groups of business and hence several businessmen shifted their base to Kotdwar from Dugadda. This was the starting of the phenomenon rise in Kotdwar and it started becoming the prominent center of trade as well as commerce and still remains so. Kotdwar is very much connected via rail, roads with different towns along with cities of the country.
