Uttaranchal Hemkund Sahib
The sacred worship place is situated at Himalaya’s area and reachable by foot only. The pilgrimage site is surrounded by holy seven hill peaks. Moreover, each peak has one Nishan Sahib. Gobindghat is the place from where visitors or devotees can reach at this sacred place by using highway of Rishikesh-Badrinath. It is a known fact that it is Sikh worship place or Gurudwara which is called Sri Hemkund Sahib.
History
It is believed that the sacred place is established by Guru Gobind Singhji during 17th century. However, the present Gurudwara or Hemkund Sahib was constructed in 1960. Harkirat Singh, a major general selected its architect to manage its construction as well as design. After that, Siali Luddu, great architect visited here several times and supervised as well as organized the Gurudwara construction process. This sacred Sikh worship place has been greatly mentioned in holy Dasam Granth, a written work of Guru Gobind Singh’s narrations. This is the main reason that it holds religious importance among Sikh community that believe in sacred Desam Granth. Visitors or devotees from all over the country visit here every year to have sacred Darshan and blessings of Guru Gobind Singh. According to legend, this is the sacred place wherein king Pandu practiced ancient Yoga.

By Air

By Rail
Rishikesh railway station is the nearest rail head that connects town to other neighbouring towns or cities of the state. Hence, from railway station visitors can hire taxi, bus and car to reach at sacred Hemkund Sahib which is only 161 km distance from railway station.
By Road
However, visitors or devotees can also use private vehicles, buses, cabs and taxis to reach at the temple.
Weather and Time to Visit
It is a known fact that Sri Hemkund Sahib is open in June’ first week every year thus visitors or devotees can get there up to 5th of October. However July and August are monsoon period thus most of the visitors avoid visiting during this period yet some devotees like to visit sacred shrine during this period. However, the climate of district Chamoli basically remains cold yet during summers it can rise to 20 degree Celsius while in winters temperature dropping down to subzero level. Monsoons occur especially in the month of July that offers good rainfalls.
