Uttaranchal Har Ki Pauri Haridwar
Har Ki Pauri is not any temple and it is a bathing Ghat only. This place is located in Haridwar and the construction done on the bank of holy river Ganga. According to Hindu religious belief, taking a dip into the holy river Ganga is considered as the end of all the sins committed by a man. To facilitate various pers to perform this task, Har Ki Pauri has been created. It is also said that the foot prints of Lord Vishnu are still viewable there and printed on a wall. This is also the place from where holy river Ganga starts its flowing in plain areas. At this place a Ganga canal also created and from the left portion of this canal, the water releases for further flowing to north. On this spot a famous Kumbh Mela is also organised after 12 years and a sacred Ardha Kumbh is conducted after the interval of 6 years. Devotees in billions arrive here across the world. In this area Vaishakhi, a Punjabi festival is also organised in April month of each year. Kumbh Mela conducted at this place is considered very sacred at this is the place from where Ganges starts its journey to plains.
History
The existing Ghats have been renovated and reconstructed in the past seeing the regularly increasing numbers of the devotees. It is believed that brother of King Vikramaditya during 1st century BC was also come here to meditate in the holy river. He selected the most sacred place in this area known as “Brahm Kund”. This is the place where some drops of Amrit were showered from the space. A lot of devotees take a bath in Har Ki Pauri and get rid of from their sins committed in past. This place is also considered for flowing of ashes of deceased persons with the view that their soul will attain salvation. Last and deep renovation was completed by a land lord of Agra during 1938. Latest design and panorama of the spot was re-designed and renovated in 1986 for ease and betterment of devotees.
Architecture
Har Ki Pauri has a special constructional style. Generally this pattern is followed by various irrigation departments to make canals from a source of water for irrigation purposes. Ganges River has been found the source to be used for imitating canals and the job has been redesigned with some extra works. Left portion of Ganga Canal has been provided with stair case and wide platforms on the banks for ease of devotees. More than 67’ wide plat form has been created and on two places bridges have also been made for conveyance of the devotees from both the sides of the canals. These are foot over bridges. A light house like creation is in between the canal and known as “Malviya Dwipa”, this was done on the name of famous educationalist Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya. Just at 50 mtrs distance from this Dwipa, a Birla Tower is also present with huge wall clock. Square shaped tower is having a dome on the top with a terrace based on the square shaped tower building. In the short span of time, various temples have been come up in this location. Ghats have been created on both sides of the canal while the stare cases have not been constructed in complete portion of the Ghat. Some old stares which were existed earlier have been renovated on this side. Maximum arrangements of bathing are on the right side of the canal.
Festivals
This place is considered very sacred and after every 6 years an Ardha Kumbh Mela is organised here and after 12 years, a full Kumbh Mela. In this place, Shivaratri utsav is also organised with full devotion and faith.

Dehradun is the nearest location has Jolly Grant airport and connected with road transportation to this place.
By Rail
Haridwar is the nearest railway station. Har Ki Pauri is located at 2.5 kilometers from railway station.
By Road
Road connectivity is also good and nearby cities are well connected with Haridwar. Har Ki Pauri is on walking distance from Bus station.
