Uttaranchal Badrinath Temple

This sacred Hindu pilgrim site is also considered amongst one of holy 108 Divya or divine Desams, the sacred sites for Vaishnavites. However, in the temple various idols are greatly worshiped but the most important one is idol of lord Vishnu as Bhagwana Badrinarayan which is made of dark Saligram stone. According to the Hindu mythology the idol of lord Badrinarayan is amongst 8 important Swayam Vyakta Kshetrasas or self manifested idols of Bhagwana Vishnu.
History
According to the Hindu mythology, Shri Badrinath was established as an important Hindu pilgrimage place by Shri Adi Shankara during the 9th of century. As per legend, Adi Shankara found the image of lord Badrinarayan in river Alaknanda and greatly enshrined it near Tapt kund in a cave. However, during 16th of century, Garhwal king moved sacred idol of Badrinarayan to current temple. Moreover, this shrine has got various important renovations and developments due to time and great smash up by flood. However, during 17th of century, the shrine was extended by Garhwal kings. Moreover, having been greatly damaged in 1803 year Himalayan earthquake, this temple was reconstructed by Jaipur king. According to the Hindu mythology, the shrine is considered amongst the five Punyakshetras or sacred sites wherein Hindus can offer their Shraddhakarmas or oblations to 42 line of past ancestors including both father’s as well as mother’s side. Moreover, as per legend, once the sacred Shraddha karma is greatly preformed at this sacred place, the descendants do not need to perform annual ritual.

Weather and Time to Visit
Badrinath town has a chilly and cool temperature throughout the year thus the best time to get there from the month of September to October and again from the month of May to June.
Winter – from October to April, during this period temperature dropping down to sub zero thus due to cold and snowfall it is not the right time to get there.
Summer – from May to June, during this period, temperature rises to 18 degree Celsius thus ideal time to visit.
Monsoon – from July to September, during this period, town faces regular heavy rainfalls thus travelling and landslides could be very difficult at this period.
