Uttaranchal Ataria Temple
Ataria temple at Rudrapur is a shrine dedicated to Goddess Ataria, which is situated 2 km from Rudrapur bus stand.
Time immemorial legend in this area conveys that the tribal King Rudra of this region, once got his Chariot stuck up in the marshy part of the land here, and got providentially released; there upon he vowed to construct a temple here, which is Ataria temple today.
Rudrapur being a city in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand State in India located in the fertile Terai region and also the 7th most populous city of this State.employment.
History
According to Historians, the village Rudrapur was established few centuries ago by a tribal Chieftain called Rudra, which has undergone different phases of development to take the shape of the present city of Rudrapur, which is now the headquarters of the district Udham Singh Nagar.
It was during the regime of Mughal emperor Akbar that this location was assigned to the king Rudra Chandra in 1588, who established a permanent military camp to keep tarai free from day today invasions of other tribal kingdoms. Rudrapur was also named so because of King Rudra.

Rudrapur is well connected by Railway network linking Dehradoon to Kathgodam, Kathgodam to Howrah, and Kathgodam to Delhi with daily trains passing over Rudrapur. Apart from this train service, local trains also run between Rudrapur and Moradabad, Kashipur, Lalkuan etc places.
