Vindhyachal town is basically renowned for its various sacred sites and ancient temples. The renowned Vindhyachal temple is among one of them. The town of Vindhyachal is located at 70 km distance from city Varanasi and famous as a religious place. The town is considered as the heavenly abode of goddess Vindhyavasini. The renowned Vindhyavasini Devi temple or popularly called Vindhyachal temple is situated on the banks of holy Ganges River. It is also considered among the sacred Shaktipeeths of Goddess Vindhyavasini. This sacred Hindu worship place is frequented by thousands of devotees every year.

However, there is no proper evidence available regarding the origin and construction date of the temple yet it is believed that it was constructed many centuries ago by an unknown dynasty. The temple is not only famous for its religious significances but also for its incredible architecture that shows the real image of Indian style of architecture. The main attraction of the temple is an idol of Goddess Vindhyavasini which is believed to be Swayambhoo or self originated. According to local folklore, once a saint visited the location where present temple is situated. He found an idol of Goddess Vindhyavasini in the forests. Later the place where the idol was found was constructed into a great temple.

Vindhyachal town has tropical climate condition like other parts of the state Uttar Pradesh. It means during summer, the city becomes hot and humid while in winter it becomes cold. Monsoon usually comes in the month of July. So, the best time to get there is from the month of March to October.
