Tamilnadu Balandeeswarar Temple
Mangadu village near Chennai is basically famous for its ancient Shiva worship place called Balandeeswarar temple. It is a sacred Hindu worship place and considered among the most visited holy places in the district. The temple is not only famous for its religious and mythological significances but also for its incredible architecture that shows the real picture of Indian style of architecture. The temple is a best location to celebrate Mahashivaratri, a festival devoted to holy Lord Shiva. The presiding deity n the temple lord Balandeeswarar is believed to be one of the forms of Lord Shiva.
History
There is no proper evidence available regarding the construction date and origin of this sacred Shiva temple yet it is believed it was constructed thousands of years ago by Devas or angels. However, according to archeological department of India, the present temple was constructed during 13th of century. The major attraction of this Hindu worship place is a sacred Shiva linga which is believed to be Swayambhoo or self originated. According to local legend, the Shiva lingam was found near the forest by a local villager.

Mangadu town enjoys the tropical climate condition, it means during winter, the city becomes cold and temperature may drop down to 8 degree Celsius while in summer it may rise to 44 degree Celsius. So, the best time to visit at Balandeeswarar temple is from the month of March to October.
