Shri Rani Sati Mandir is located in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. It has a 400 years old history which marks the bravery and motherhood of extraordinary valor. It is one of the ancient pilgrimages of the country which is visited by thousands of visitors every year.
History
The story dates back to Mahabharata times. The wife of Abhimanyu Uttara could not commit Sati as she was pregnant. She sought a boon from Lord Krishna to do the same in next birth. Uttara was born as Narayani bai while Abhimanyu was born as Tandhan Das. Due to a sudden attack by enemies Tandhan Das died. The young bride, Narayani bai displayed exemplary courage and bravery and fought against the enemies and killed them.
She then requested the care taker of her horse to make arrangement for her being sati. After she became sati, a storm raised and told the caretaker to take them to a place on the horse back and construct a temple where ever the horse stopped first. It is believed that the horse stopped in Jhunjhunu where this temple stands today.

This temple came into existence in the 16th century in commemoration of Narayani bai who set ablaze and became satiji.

By Air
The nearest Airport is in Jaipur which is the capital of Rajasthan. Shri Rani Sati temple is located at 184 km from the airport. Many domestic and low fare airlines operate from Delhi on regular basis connecting Jaipur to Delhi and some other prominent cities of the country.
By Rail
Jhunjhunu is well connected by train with Delhi and Jaipur. Number of express and passenger trains operates between these destinations. On reaching the railway station, you can take an auto or hire a taxi and reach this temple.
By Road
Jhunjhunu is well connected by roads to various important cities in Rajasthan like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Udaipur. Number of state owned transport buses, private luxury buses, and sleeper coaches operate from Jhunjhunu. It is also connected with national capital.
Important Shrines
Shri Rani Sati Temple has 13 sati temples in the complex. Out of these 12 are small ones and there is a big and main temple which is dedicated to Rani Sati Dadi. The building is constructed by using white marble and has a red fluttering flag at the top. The huge statue of Lord Shiva adds to the grandeur. The interiors are adorned with exquisite murals and fascinating rich glass mosaics.
Significance Of The Temple
The temple does not have any statue or idol and so a trident with two eyes, nose ring, a red bindi, and a red chunri is worshipped in the form of power and force which is the supreme almighty as per the Hindu religion. The Rani Sati Mela is an important fair festival of the temple which is celebrated twice a year in the Magh Krishna Navami and Bhadrapada Amavasya. This is an important occasion for the temple and thousands of tourists from the entire region of Rajasthan and other parts of the country including foreign tourists visit the temple. Millions of devotees from all walks of life assemble at the temple complex to get the auspicious blessings of Rani Satiji.
Weather And Time To Visit
The Months of October, November, February and March are considered ideal to visit Shri Rani Sati Temple. The Jhunjhunu climate remains very pleasant during these months. The summer months are very hot with temperature going about 40 degree and the winter months of December and January remain extremely cold with temperature dipping below 5 degree.

Plan to visit the temple during the Rani Sati mela. Amavasya is considered as the most sacred day to seek blessings of Dadiji because it was on Amavasya day Narayani bai became Sati.
Rules And Rituals Of The Temple
Rani Sati Ki Puja is an important ritual performed on the Amaavasya day in the Month of Bhadon. The Rani Sati mela held twice in a year is also a great time to reach the temple to get social darshan on this auspicious occasion. Bangles, sindoor, coconut, chunari, mehendi, prasad, deepak, kalash, money form the part offerings.
