Jeen mata is a small village which has immense religious belief. This village has a thousand year old temple called the Jeen Mata temple which is worshipped by thousands of devotees every year. It is said that this temple hosts two colorful festivals in the months of Ashwin and Chaitra during the Navratris. Millions of devotees visit this temple during these times and pay offerings and puja to the goddess. This temple is located near a hill approximately 10 kms from Rewasa village. Kolkata has large number of followers of Jeen Mata and it is said that people from Kolkata specially visit Sikar to pay their offerings to Jeen Mata.
History
History associated with this temple is that centuries ago King Ghangh loved and tied knot with a nymph (apsara) on one condition that he will never visit her place without any prior information. King Ghangh was then blessed with a son and daughter. Once the king went to meet the Apsara without any prior information and violated the promise. On this the apsara fled and left him. She took her son while left her daughter Jeen abandoned. Presently there is a temple which stands at the place where Jeen Mata was left alone. Few years after this, a Chauhan ruler built a temple called Jeen Mata Temple here.

This temple came into limelight due to Jeen Mata. She was abandoned by her mother and so a temple was constructed here in her memory. This temple is revered by the people living around this place.

By Air
The temple is 121 km away from the Jaipur International airport. On reaching the airport, you can hire a cab, taxi or an auto and reach this temple. This airport connects the city to different other main cities of India.
By Rail
Sikar Railway station is located at distance of 26.9 kms from the Jeen Mata Temple. This railway station has many trains passing through it which connects it to many other cities of India.
By Road
Sikar town is just 29 kms away from Jeen Mata Temple. One can board the local or state transport buses and reach the temple which is located in Jeen Mata Village.

The important shrine is the Jeen Mata Temple. Jeen Mata is said to be an incarnation of Durga Mata. The other shrine is the Bhairav Nath temple which is located near to the hill around 10 kms.
Significance Of The Temple
Jeen Mata temple is encircled by thick forests from all its sides. It is covered by the mountains on all its sides. Since the year of construction is not known it is said that the image of Jeen Mata is thousands of years old. As per legends, the Pandavas, came to this thick forest and visited this temple during their exile from the city Hastinapur. The Pandavas re-constructed the temple in their own style which exists even now.
This place is acknowledged due to its religious importance and hence is considered sacred by all the localities. The place is also well known for its natural grace of serenity which is visible due to the lush green vegetation together with rich flora and fauna.
Weather And Time To Visit
The ideal time to visit the temple is during the winter season, when the weather is chill and cool. It is pleasant enough to visit and get here and there around. Summers must be avoided due to extreme heat while monsoon must be avoided as it gets extremely very humid around the place. Further, one must visit the temple between 4am to 10pm while the ideal time is to visit during the morning and evening aarti time.

There are number of Dharamshalas established here, which accommodate large number of pilgrims or tourists. Apart from these Dharamshalas, there are plenty of yatri Niwas and hotels which facilitate excellent staying facilities.
Tips For Devotees
The devotees must visit the temple during the mentioned times, so that they can participate in the aarti and seek the blessings of Jeen Mata. Apart from this, the devotees must dress in decent clothes and must not carry their mobiles on high ringtone in the premises. They must not carry any kind of meat or poultry product inside the premises.
Rules And Rituals Of The Temple
The temple is well known for its religious belief. It is said that anyone who comes and seeks blessings of Jeen Mata and asks for a son is surely granted for his wish. Once the wish is accomplished, the person must visit the temple with his family and get the child’s first hair cut in the premises of the temple.
