Punjab Kali Mata Mandir
The one of the most important temple dedicated to Kali Mata is located in the city of Patiala, Punjab. The chief deity of the temple is Goddess Durga. The temple reflects the rich culture of Hindu architecture and hence the temple is considered as the icon of the Hindu ancient art. The walls of the temple are ornate with the eye-catching decors and frieze portraits.
The architecture and design of the temple has made it to be listed in the national monument of India. The temple sees a heavy rush during the time of Navratris to offer their prayers. The devotees who visit the temple offer Mustard oil, Coconut, bangles, hens, goats etc. The devotees believe that the wishes are granted by the deity to those who visit the temple with clean mind and soul. The temple of Mata Raja Rajeshwari is also located very near to the Kali Mata Temple.
The temple has been constructed by late Maharaja Bhupinder Singh in the year 1936. A six foot tall idol of Kali mata and the sacred flame was brought from the city of Kolkata by the late Maharaja Bhupinder Singh.
The temple is located on the mall road of Patiala and is situated adjacent to Rajendra Tank and opposite to Baradari Garden.
The temple follows the customary rites and sacraments practiced by the Hindu community that the communities of Hindu have inherited from the generations by the ancestors though today these customs are fading down gradually.
