History
The history of the emergence of this temple can be related to the story of Lord Shiva and Sati. It is believed that Sati’s father insulted her husband Lord Shiva and after this sati sacrificed her life that infuriated Lord Shiva and he opened his third eye and started performing the Tandava. In order to cool down the petrifying Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu cut the body of Sati into 51 pieces using his Sudarshna Chakra and these 51 body parts of sati fell at different places in the country and wherever the body part felt on the earth a temple has been constructed that is sacredly worshipped by the Hindu community.
The temple of Devi Talab has the marks of the sati body part that fell here. It was seen that Sati’s right breast fell at this place after which the temple was constructed. Hence this temple is also considered as part of one the 51 shaktipeeths as considered under the Hindu mythology.
