Odisha Klapilanatha Siva Temple Bhubaneswar
Kapilanatha Siva Temple is ideally located in the region of Kedara-Gouri shrine Kedara-Gouri Chowk in Bhubaneswar. The enshrined idol is actually a Siva lingam constructed from unique black chlorite in a spherical yonipitha. The holy place is maintained and repaired by Kedara-Gouri Trust. On the other hand, architectural features illustrate that the shrine was made in the 16th century A.D. Sankranti, Sivaratri, Sivavivaha are observed and performed inside the temple. Kapilanatha Siva Temple is constructed in impressive Kalingan style with sand stones and grey. Several worshippers from different parts of India tend to visit Kapilanatha Siva Temple every year. The temple has a deep place in the hearts of devotees.
Kapilanatha Siva Temple is in fact surrounded by massive milk tank (Dudha Kunda). The Dudha Kunda is positioned in the east direction at a distance of 6 meters and amazing Dutiya Kedaresvara Temple is situated in north-east direction at a distance of 5 meters. On plan, Kapilanatha Siva Temple has a fascinating vimana that measures 4 meters, with a front portico measuring 0.58 meters. The chamber measures 1.95 sq meters. On a particular height, the vimana is in complete pidha order measuring 5.50 meters in elevation. The temple has three fold partitions of bada. At the same time, the temple incorporates a unique trianga bada measuring 2.10 meters in elevation (pabhaga 0.58 meters, baranda 0.44 meters and jangha 1.20 meters). The gandi measures 3.20 meters and mastaka measures 1 meter.
Architecture
There are several impressive Rahas integrated in the construction of temple. The Raha measures 0.57 meters in elevation x 0.27 meters in breadth x 0.15 meters in deepness. It must be observed that all the rahas are empty. On the other hand, doorjambs measure 1.65 meters x 1.23 meters. The doorjambs are engraved with three fabulous bands of nara sakha, puspa sakha, and lata sakha from interior to exterior. It must be noted that sakhas are not visibly clear due to lime wash. Every sakha measures 0.5 meters in breadth. At the lalatabimba, goddess Gajalaxmi is actually presiding over a lotus base in lalitasana. Gajalaxmi is holding a big lotus flower in her left hand. In the right hand she holds a varada mudra. The temple also has a lintel. It measures 2.46 meters in breadth. Every lintel has a navagraha. Ravi holding a lotus in his hand and Ketu presiding on a serpent’s tail could be seen in the architectural design. Ketu is also seen holding a shield and bow in some places.

By Road
Kapilanatha Siva Temple is well connected by road. Travelers can easily get the bus from Bhubaneswar railway station and main bus stand located in the heart of the city. Both private and government buses run on this route. Special concession is provided to senior citizens and small children.

However, the place will be crowded but it is the perfect time to explore Kapilanatha Siva Temple. It has been advised not to visit the temple from April to June. The period can be very hot and uncomfortable for devotees.
