Odisha Kalabhairavi Temple Bhubaneswar
The majestic temple is actually situated within the premises of Jaleswara Shiva Temple, Kalarahanga in Bhubaneswar. The temple has a global appeal. Several foreign tourists tend to visit and explore the beauty of this majestic temple. The enshrined holy being is actually a four-armed Chamunda presiding on a corpse. At the same time, the holy being has a big khatuanga in her right hand, detached head in left hand and snake in left hand. However, the lower part of the right hand is actually broken. Moreover, the deity is ornamented with amazing jatamukuta. On the other hand, deity wears a big garland of skulls. The entire structure rests on a base measuring 0.60 meters in height.
Kalabhairavi Temple in Bhubaneswar was constructed in the 12th century. The marvelous structure was made by ruler Madhusudhan Deva. Kalabhairavi Temple has an impressive square vimana measuring 3.86 sq meters. The vimana has a wonderful front portico that increases the beauty of the temple.
Architecture
On a particular height, vimana is a fabulous pidha deul having gandi, bada, and mastaka measuring 6.85 meters in height. Moreover, with fivefold separations of bada Kalabhairavi Temple has a unique panchanga bada that actually measures 2.86 meters in height. The fivefold partition’s like the pabhaga 0.75 metres, tala jangha 0.67 meters, bandhana 0.08 metres, baranda 0.68 metres and upara jangha 0.65 metres tend to fascinate the mind of the visitor. The mastaka and the gandi measures 1.50 and 2.50 meters in height and these components are very attractive. Parsva devata and raha niche: raha niches evenly measures 0.65 meters in height x 0.39 meters in width x 0.25 meters in depth. The niches are considered to be empty.
Door jambs are ornamented with three perpendicular bands measuring 1.66 meters in height and 0.85 meters in breadth. In the arch there is an attractive navagraha panel bordered by dual bharabahakas on either sides. These bharabahakas actually resemble the structure of Kotitirthesvara Siva temple located in Old Town, Bhubaneswar. Moreover, at the bottom of doors Saivaitedvarapala is noticed with attractive features.
